Are there even Jazz Fans in Kuwait?

Call me whatever you like... but it bugs me when I hear someone tell me "oh I love jazz too!" and then think what they hear on 92.5FM is the epitome of jazz.

Guys please; when there is something I have no clue about, I shut the hell up. I expect the same in return.

I had a few discussions recently online and one person even said that, and I quote:

there is jazz danceing with women wearing tight and short clothes.

Then of course there's the Gulf Jazz Festival ; don't get me started there!

I have met a couple of people who know what they are talking about; true fans of the genres. I also was happy to get the positive reaction when we played jazz at the Blend Music Fest:

Jazz is not an easy genre to get into; mostly because of the many variants and mostly is technical. However the rewards are plenty.

But please, if you aren't a fan, that's fine... just don't come to me and say Kenny G or Yanni are the best thing since sliced bread.

I wish that FM 99.7 has a dedicated jazz hour (similar to Jazz America of VOA).

  1. Someone thought freaking YANNI was jazz?! Miles Davis is doing somersaults in his grave for that one.

  2. jazz had died before it's born in kuwait & dude come on who is still listening to radio now
in my taste of jazz the ‘Rat Pack' r the best, u know those crazy guys Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr, and Dean Martin
nice post dude, finally someone who knows what really jazz is

    1. You should be in Vegas then ;p

Well I'm gonna quote Zappa and say "Jazz isn't dead, it just smells funny".

      and thanks !
