Classic Tracks: John Lee Hooker - "Boom Boom"

One of the most recognizable riffs in the history of the blues (and Rock n' Roll) HAS to be "Boom Boom" by John Lee Hooker.

Released in 1961, its simple yet rocking riff and call and response sections just ooze the blues! There's also a boogie jam session in the middle section, introduced in most live versions of the song.

This song was a staple of all major British bands (such as The Animals and The Yardbirds) in the 60's who imitated the American Blues. If it wasn't for this song (among other blues standards) then the Brits would not be where they were today (no offense, England!)

Here's a live version from the 60's on the BBC... cheerio!
